How to add a watermark to a PDF
- Choose a PDF file.
- Type the watermark text and pick layout, color, opacity, angle and size.
- Click "Add watermark" and download the watermarked PDF.
Why watermark document copies
Marking the purpose on copies of IDs, bank statements or contracts — for example “For rental application only” — makes it harder to reuse them elsewhere.
The watermark is an image layer, so PDF editors can remove it. Use it to label copies, not as tamper protection.
Why a no-upload PDF tool is safer
Most online PDF sites upload your file to their servers, process it there and send it back. This tool runs open-source PDF libraries (pdf-lib and PDF.js) directly in your browser, so your documents never leave your device.
Because the work happens on your device, very large files are faster on a computer than on a phone.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Files are opened and processed inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared, so it is safe for contracts, IDs and bank statements.
Can I tile the watermark across the page?
Yes. Choose "Tiled" to repeat the text across the whole page, or "Large, centered" for one big stamp.
Can I change the transparency and angle?
Yes. Opacity goes from 5% to 80% and the angle from −90° to 90°.
Does it support non-English text?
Yes. The text is drawn by your browser, so any language and emoji your device can display will work.
Can the watermark be removed?
With a PDF editor, yes — it is added as an image layer. It labels copies but is not tamper-proof.
What is the size limit?
PDFs up to 100 MB, up to 80 characters of text.
