How to convert KST to your time
- Enter the date and time as announced in Korea (KST).
- Your device time zone is selected automatically; change it or add cities if you share the time with friends.
- Check the date: Korea is ahead of the Americas and Europe, so evening events in Korea often fall on the previous day there.
EST, EDT and "Eastern Time"
EST (UTC−5) is US Eastern Standard Time and EDT (UTC−4) is Eastern Daylight Time. "ET" or "Eastern Time" means whichever one is in effect on that date. Many announcements say "EST" all year when they mean local Eastern Time, so this converter shows New York local time (EST or EDT by date) and, separately, a fixed EST option.
Korea Standard Time is UTC+9 and Korea does not use daylight saving time, so the gap to the US or Europe changes twice a year when those regions change their clocks. The converter uses the IANA time zone database in your browser for the exact date.

Frequently asked questions
What is 8 PM KST in EST?
In winter, 8:00 PM KST is 6:00 AM EST on the same day in New York. In summer, when New York uses EDT, it is 7:00 AM EDT. Use the converter with the exact date.
How many hours ahead is Korea?
Korea (UTC+9) is 14 hours ahead of New York in winter and 13 in summer, 17 or 16 hours ahead of Los Angeles, and 9 or 8 hours ahead of London.
Does Korea use daylight saving time?
No. Korea Standard Time is UTC+9 all year. Only the other side of the conversion changes with daylight saving time.
Is EST the same as Eastern Time?
Not always. EST is UTC−5. From mid-March to early November, New York uses EDT (UTC−4). If an event says "EST" in summer, it usually means local Eastern Time — check with the organizer.
Why is the date different?
Korea is ahead of the Americas, so a Korean evening is often the morning of the same day or the previous day in the US. The result always shows "previous day", "same day" or "next day".
